Newberg is a small municipality that collects dollars from its residents to maintain and pay for new infastructure and community services to include: water, sewer, wastewater treatment facility maintenance, stormwater fees, public safety, communications (911 operators), and trasportation utility fees which cover street preservation and maintenance.
How are rates determined?
“A Citizens' Rate Review Committee, consisting of eight citizens appointed by the City Council, study the rate proposals on a two year cycle. The committee holds a public hearing on the proposed rates. A notice of this hearing is published in The Newberg Graphic, the local newspaper and on the city's website. After reviewing the proposed rates and receiving public input, the Committee recommends a rate schedule to the City Council.
