Newberg has a rich history. Its fertile soil and welcoming community have attracted people for years. Native Americans, Quaker settlers, even a United States president have all called this place home. Characteristics like its friendly, welcoming nature, flourishing industries, and strong sense of community highlighted by vibrant events all make Newberg a spectacular place to put down roots.
I am excited to lead Newberg as it grows. I am committed to listening to citizens and working with city staff to properly prioritize infrastructure additions and improvements. The growth of current residents and businesses should be prioritized which in turn will perpetuate a culture that welcomes newcomers. I will ensure that Newberg’s defining features drive us into the future instead of fading into the past.

Managing Your Money Well
The City Council is tasked with managing the community’s hard-earned money. These dollars should be used to responsibly carry out local government duties and community members should know how their money is being used. The current council has hade great strides in lowering debt and preventing new taxes. I am committed to following this example and lowering costs wherever possible. By valuing citizen input we can learn how the community wants their tax dollars spent so the city’s budget is a reflection of community values.
This information should be accessible and understandable so citizens can be assured that their money is being put to good use. I plan to explore how information about the budget, taxes, and fees can be more accessible and understandable for all.

Livability and Safety
General livability and community safety are of the utmost importance. Newberg is a great place to grow and the City Council has a key role to play in cultivating a sense of safety and belonging for all. Newberg has many opportunities for its citizens to engage and connect. As a Councilor I will work to support our local businesses, nonprofits, law enforcement, families, and individuals so everyone feels enabled to belong and contribute to a safe and flourishing community. I am committed to supporting our outstanding police and fire departments so they have the resources they need to do their jobs well.
